The Society was formed in 1954. It is run by a committee of volunteers who meet once a month to plan meetings, social events and shows.
The Society is open to ALL and NOT restricted to Totton & District residents.
Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm and Visitors are welcome. See details of events and speakers on the calendar page. The meetings are held at the Totton Three Score Club, Library Road, Totton, SO40 3RS. Car park access via Salisbury Road. Three flower shows are arranged each year, Spring, Summer and Autumn, see Shows page for full details.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES During the year a number of Social Activities are arranged. These include a Members’ Christmas Party, which is held instead of the December Meeting, when we have a Buffet Supper, Entertainment and a Christmas Draw.
An Annual Lunch takes place during March or April.
Long weekend, full day, half day, and evening trips will also be made to places of horticultural interest. Some half day and evening trips or visits may be quite local, in which case members use their own transport. Those not having transport can usually share cars with other members. For trips where longer distances are involved, coach travel is used.
Other social events may also take place.
Two teams, of four members each, are entered in the Inter Society Quiz, organised by the Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies, the preliminary round of which usually takes place on the last Sunday in September. Members are encouraged to support the teams by attending the event.
