GENERAL SHOW RULES
1. All exhibits must be grown by the Exhibitor or an Affiliated Group for a minimum of
three months except in the Floral Art Classes.
2. Entry Fees. Twenty five pence per Class. Free Entry in Novice Classes.
3. The hall will be open for staging from 8:00am on the morning of each of the show days.
4. All exhibits to be staged by 10:45 am on the morning of the Show. The hall will be cleared for judging at 11:00am sharp.
5. The closing date for entries is the Wednesday evening immediately preceding the show.
The Committee reserves the right to decline late entries. No late entries will be accepted in the Floral Art Classes, and double entry fees may be charged on any late entries accepted in any of the classes. The Society regrets that no email entries will be accepted.
6. The Judge’s decision will be final. Protests must be handed to the Show Committee in writing, with a deposit of fifty pence, before 2:30pm on the day of the show. Protests will be resolved by a Sub-Committee consisting of the Chairman, Show Co-ordinator and the Stewards of the Sections concerned. The Judge may be consulted.
7. Only one entry per exhibitor may be made in each class.
8. A NOVICE. In any Novice Class, a novice is an Exhibitor who has not won more than two first prizes in the Sections concerned at any of this Society’s previous shows.
9. Prize money will be paid out from the information desk by the Treasurer at approximately 4:00pm on the day of the show. Unless the Show Co-ordinator has been advised that winners might not be present to collect the prize money, any prize money, not collected by the close of the show will be deemed a donation to the Society.
10. The general public will not be admitted to the hall before the appointed time of 1:30pm.
11. Members and Exhibitors will be admitted to the show free of charge. Members should produce evidence of their paid up current year’s membership. Admission charge to the general public will be fifty pence.
12. All Perpetual Challenge Trophies are the property of the Society and are held by the winners for one year only.
13. THE BLUNDELL CHALLENGE TROPHY (BAROMETER)
The Trophy is awarded to the Member who, having exhibited at the two Society’s Shows in one year, has gained the most number of points overall. The same member cannot win the Award two years in succession. If the highest number of points is attained by the same Member for a second year, then the member with second highest number of points will be judged the winner.
This trophy will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in January.

14. THE ROYAL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY BANKSIAN MEDAL.
For the winner of most prize money in the Show. Floral Art Classes excluded.

The Banksian Medal cannot be awarded to a previous recipient until two years have elapsed.i.e. two years have to be missed.
16. The Committee reserves the right to remove any exhibit having disease or infection.
17. “Acceptance of Entries”. The Show committee reserve the right to refuse any entry and in the event of such refusal, the committee is not required to give any reason or explanation.
18. “Eligibility of Exhibitors”. On all questions regarding the eligibility of an exhibitor, the decision of the Show Committee shall be final.
19. In all cases, with the exception of the Floral Art, Exhibitors are requested to name the cultivars used in their exhibits, where known. If the name of the cultivar is not known then mark your Exhibit, ‘Cultivar not known’. The Judge or someone else at the Show may be able to name the cultivar for you. Cards for naming of exhibits are available from the information desk.
20. Points in all Classes are awarded as follows:
1st four points. 2nd three points, 3rd two points, highly commended one point.
21. The Presentation of Awards will take place at approximately 4:00pm.
22. The Draw will take place immediately following the presentation.
23. The Show will close at approximately 4:40pm. Exhibitors will not be permitted to remove their exhibits before this time without prior permission from the Show Co-ordinator.
SECURITY OF EXHIBITS
Careful arrangements will be made for the security and protection of all exhibits in the show, but the Committee will not be responsible for losses or damage to exhibits on their way to, at or during the show.
